Bio​

Rachael McCallum is a millennial artist, tutor, performer, technician and, in 2015; co-founder of Kil.n.it Experimental Ceramics Studios. Currently is based in Sydney, NSW, Australia.

McCallum studied at National Art School as a Ceramics major, also studying Colour Theory and Philosohical Aesthetics.
 
Rachael McCallum has exhibited extensively in NSW and interstate, most notably

• in Alice Springs for the TACA Triennale 'We Are Kil.n.it" exhibition at Raft Artspace (2022),
• Gaffa Gallery "It's not Just a hobby" (2021),
• the Australian Ceramics Biennial ‘OverUnderSidewaysDown’ curated by Glenn Barkley, (2016)  
• Performed and exhibited in “WONKY” at Tinning Street Gallery, VIC, curated by Sophie Cai, (2016)
• performed at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney ‘ArtBar’ curated by Wade Maryonowsky (2016);
• and at The Casula Arts Powerhouse contemporary art “Biggie Smalls” exhibition (2015).  

I choose ambiguity. 
I see echoes of familiar elements: referencing lakes, snakes and handbags amongst other “things”.

However, the likeness is distant and untrue, merely imported suggestions of a mind seeking familiar aspects in an uncomfortable and conflicting visual plane
